The communications/TV industrial complex should use signs to indicate it’s health. If this were one of them then the outlook for employability looks great for generic video work.

I was always very clumsy with IRC chatting when it was reatively new to me. The past 2 hours of chatting and trying to find channels that weren’t secret has also reaffirmed my disinterest with it. In that time, all I can think about is how many other audio/music realted pieces of gear I could be learning about instead of trying I fgure out how to change my nickname while I’m in a chatroom.

Why do I get so easily distracted when I have a task at hand? I’ve got to get my PS3 a HDMI cable. I started the search/order but I heard a good song on the last.fm suggested playlist. Now I’ve got 10 tabs open as I’m adding bands to my library. I guess if I was at home I’d organize my CDs from the spool into my shelves.

On my iMac I’ve had the most peculiar thing occur in iTunes. Whenever a CD is loaded the sort order defaults to the Track Title no matter what preference and settings I’d adjust or which ever version is installed. Preferably, the original track order is what I’d like it to be set at. I searched forums, support pages, tried experiments on other machines because it was only on th iMac… last month I maxed out the memory (finally) and the problem has disappeared.

iTunes has always been annoyed at how my music library has been kept. I have an external and keep some files in the internal since I can’t bear to waste the electricity of keeping the external always on. I’m not the only one, many of my friends have this same problem. It’s annoying. I believe only 1 person in my network of people who keeps it neurotically neat (We all have names for that “ism” he has, um-hmm.) So in trying to dump all of my music into the external, I have a bunch of duplicates on both drives … Sad part is this has happened before and it took a day and a half to get that sorted out.
I’ve checked out Doug’s Apple Scripts and come across a few nice and useful scripts. I ran Track CPR. It’s not very clear as how it should be used, but I gathered that iTunes has to be on, the Keep Organized preference is turned off and then select tracks in the Library that you’d went the script to be run on. Then the script prompts for the iTunes Music file etc. I’m not sure what has happened, I just know a few things were altered according the the log (its just a summary.) I’ve got a few more scripts I’ll run to make sure I’ve got things in order.
SIGH it s going to be a long day.
A co-worker asked me about porting his library… I’ll have to remember this link when I next see him.

Last week at the comms desk I spent time trying to figure out if there is a way to disengage the MUTE feature of a TELEX KP-32 head. I had a fidgety operator and we really needed to hear this person full time. I read the manual inside-out, contacted collegues, tried obvious key combinations . . . I found no answer. The AO figures that there must be some software patch that can be loaded in and he’ll call Telex about it. Sure, I don’t mind waiting for an answer . . .
So now my thumbs will twirl.
